It’s a really satisfying feeling having created this blog page and put up the first couple of posts. Who knows whether it will just function as a space for reflection for myself or whether, perhaps, it will lead to some interesting conversations.
However, I do know that having created something – even so trivial as this – feels really good. It’s a long time, I think, since I did anything properly creative beyond, say, selecting tunes at a party or designing a frisbee practice session. Probably that’s not strictly true – but it feels like this touches on what is a resonant theme for me at the moment: why do we by default consume rather than create? Why is it more natural to sit down and watch American Pop Idol than to make music with friends; to go to a gallery rather than to create a picture?
